Recruiters at US and global companies hiring remote Machine Learning Engineers look first for proof that you have shipped models into production, not only trained them in notebooks. They scan for specific frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), MLOps tooling (MLflow, Docker, Kubernetes, Airflow), and measurable outcomes such as latency, accuracy lift, cost savings or user volume. They also expect a clear title, years of experience, and a description of the product domain, because these are the fastest filters in applicant tracking systems.
Compared with a local resume in Europe, a US-facing version changes three things. First, it uses market English titles (Mid-level, Senior) and US date and spelling conventions, with no local job-title translations. Second, it puts numbers first: users served, latency reduced, percentage of revenue or cost affected. Third, it states your work authorization or contracting model up front, since US employers hiring from abroad need to know whether you are a contractor, employed through an Employer of Record, or available for a direct contract. Keep the page to one or two pages and remove photos, personal data and hobby sections.
What your resume must show
- Show your exact title in market English (for example Machine Learning Engineer, Mid-level or Senior) with total years of relevant experience in the summary.
- List the core frameworks you have used in production (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn) inside the bullets of the roles where you used them, not only in a skills list.
- Include at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP or Azure) and the specific services you ran models on, such as SageMaker or Vertex AI.
- State at least one quantified outcome per recent role, such as latency, accuracy, cost or number of users affected, using a real metric from your history.
- Make your English level and your availability for remote contracts or an Employer of Record explicit so recruiters can act on the profile without guessing.

SUMMARY
Machine Learning Engineer with 5 years of experience building and deploying NLP and recommendation models for B2B SaaS products. Ships PyTorch models to production on AWS SageMaker with monitoring, retraining pipelines and CI/CD. Works closely with product and data engineering teams in English across European time zones.
EXPERIENCE
- Deploys PyTorch text classification models on AWS SageMaker, serving 1.2M monthly API requests with p95 latency under 120 ms.
- Built an automated retraining pipeline in Airflow and MLflow that cut model refresh time from 3 days to 6 hours.
- Reduced inference cost by 35% by quantizing transformer models and moving batch scoring to spot instances.
- Writes Docker-based CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions for model packaging and staged rollout to production.
- Developed a scikit-learn and XGBoost product recommendation model that raised click-through rate by 14% in A/B tests.
- Built forecasting pipelines in Python and SQL for demand planning across 300 SKUs.

Common mistakes outside the US
- Using a local title translation or a non-standard title; fix it by writing the market English equivalent of the role you actually held.
- Listing tools only in a skills block without tying them to a project; fix it by naming each framework in a bullet that shows what you built with it.
- Describing duties with no results; fix it by adding a measured outcome such as latency, accuracy or cost to each bullet where the profile gives a number.
- Writing European date formats, photos or personal details; fix it by using Month YYYY dates, removing photos and dropping age, marital status and nationality.
- Leaving work authorization vague, so recruiters assume you cannot be hired; fix it by stating your contracting model (independent contractor or Employer of Record) and your time zone in the header.

Do US companies hire Machine Learning Engineers from Europe as contractors?
Yes. Many US and global companies hire through independent contractor agreements or Employer of Record services such as Deel or Remote, which handle local payroll and compliance. State your preferred model on the resume so recruiters can filter you quickly.
Should I include a Master's degree or a local certification on a US resume?
Include your highest degree with the school name in English or its original name, and skip local certifications unless they are recognized in the field, such as AWS certifications. Degree names should be written in US form, for example M.Sc. or B.Eng.
How long should my resume be for a remote ML Engineer role abroad?
Aim for one page if you have under 7 years of experience and two pages at most for senior profiles. Recruiters spend less than a minute on the first pass, so put the most relevant recent work and metrics at the top.
