What recruiters abroad look for

Recruiters at US and global companies hiring remote Account Executives from outside the US look for three things first: several years of full-cycle B2B sales (prospecting, discovery, demos, negotiation, closing) with quota attainment you can prove, familiarity with the CRM and sales tools their teams use daily, and clear evidence that you can run deals in English with US-based buyers across time zones. They also screen for deal size and sales cycle length, because a US mid-market or enterprise motion is different from a local SMB one.

A local resume usually leads with the company name, a long list of duties, and local certifications. For this role, rewrite it: lead each role with the quota, pipeline, ARR or deal size you owned, name the CRM and sales engine by its exact name, state the market you sold into and your English level, and state your work authorization or contractor setup in the header. Keep it to one page and use US conventions (no photo, no date of birth, Letter-size formatting).

What your resume must show

  1. Your title and years of full-cycle B2B SaaS Account Executive experience are stated in the headline and the first role, using the job's exact wording.
  2. Quota attainment, ARR or pipeline figures are listed for each recent role, since US recruiters screen on numbers before anything else.
  3. Named CRM tools (for example Salesforce or HubSpot) appear in a role bullet, not only in a skills list, so the recruiter AI can confirm them.
  4. The sales cycle, deal size range and buyer level (SMB, mid-market, enterprise; VP, director, IT) are visible for the most recent role.
  5. Your English proficiency is stated with a CEFR level and a proof point, and your work setup (contractor or EOR) is in the header.

Common mistakes outside the US

  1. Listing duties such as 'responsible for sales' without quota, revenue or deal numbers; fix by adding the quota attainment, ARR closed or pipeline you managed.
  2. Burying the CRM and sales tools inside a paragraph; fix by naming Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong or whichever you used, both in bullets and the skills section, with the exact spelling used in the job post.
  3. Using local job titles like 'Sales Manager' or 'Commercial Consultant' without explaining scope; fix by using 'Account Executive' or 'Senior Account Executive' and describing the territory and customer type in the bullet.
  4. Omitting time zone, language and work authorization, which leaves recruiters guessing about contracting; fix by stating your location with UTC offset, your English level and whether you are an independent contractor or hired through an EOR such as Deel.
  5. Writing a generic objective about being passionate about sales; fix by replacing it with a two-line summary of what you sold, to whom, at what deal size and what you achieved.

FAQ

Should I include a photo or my date of birth on a US-facing resume?

No. US and most global companies do not expect a photo, date of birth, marital status or national ID number, and including them can slow screening. Keep the resume to one page, use Letter-size formatting and list only your name, city with time zone, contact details and LinkedIn.

How do I show my quota attainment if my local company used different metrics?

Convert your results into the closest equivalent US measure, such as new ARR, bookings or percentage of quota, and state the currency and period clearly. If the figure is in EUR or PLN, write the currency symbol so it is not misread, and add a short note on what the quota covered if it is not obvious.

Do I need a US work permit or can I apply from abroad?

Many remote Account Executive roles hire from abroad, either as independent contractors or through an Employer of Record such as Deel, Remote or Oyster. State your preferred setup in the resume header and in your application, and check each job post for country restrictions before applying.
